Our training staff is an elite class of ball players from every level of the game. Each have experienced success as baseball and softball players, and now use that growth to help others train to achieve their dreams. 

From former college and big league players, to tenured coaches, our unique team is here to serve you each step of the way.

RUSS BURROUGHS

HEAD TRAINER

Russ is the Head Coach for the Wilmington Sharks in the Coastal Plain League. The CPL is one of the top premier collegiate summer leagues in the nation. With the Sharks, Russ works with top D1 athletes from all over the country. Prior to coaching in Wilimington, Russ was the Head Coach of the Edenton Steamers. Russ has worked with over 15 players drafted in the MLB Draft, 5 free agent signings, 4 players represented in the College World Series, and 15 CPL All-Stars.

​Russ played and graduated from Lipscomb University. He also played four years of professional baseball, including one season internationally. He was a relief pitcher and designated hitter. 

As our Head Trainer, Russ is involved with all our training programs. He also spends time with players and their families to help build a long term plan for their adjustment into the next level of play. 

AMANDA PORTH

HITTING / FIELDING / SPEED

Amanda played college ball at Augustanna College in Rock Island, IL.

 

She coached travel ball in the Chicago area. She continues to be passionate about helping softball players grow in their game. 

HEATH COMERFORD

HITTING / FIELDING / SPEED

Heath is a graduate of Tusculum College where he lettered in baseball four times. He still has top 3 rankings in many offensive and defensive categories there.

 

He has coached players of all ages over the years and looks forward to working with players of all skill levels at NBA.

MACEY CHEATHAM

SOFTBALL CATCHING

Macey Cheatham caught at Florida State University from 2012-2016. She won 3 ACC championships, participated in 4 super regional tournaments, and 2 World Series. Throughout her career at FSU, she has learned from some of the best in the game and strives to spread that knowledge to developing players. She has eight years of experience teaching lessons, working camps, and running clinics specializing in catching development.

ERICH BUTLER

HITTING / PITCHING / FIELDING

Since finishing his playing career with Corpus Christi in 1994 and the Moose Jaw Diamond Dogs of the CBL in 1995, Erich has coached and taught the game in the Nashville area to players of all ages and abilities. Dedication to the game and teaching it are his passion.

JAMIE YOUNG

PITCHING / HITTING / FIELDING

Jamie played college ball at Lipscomb University and Indiana University Southeast. During his career he was part of the Bisons second Atlantic Sun Championship team. He played Summer Collegiate Ball in the Perfect Game Collegiate League, the Sunbelt League and the Prospect League.

Jamie enjoys helping young players learn and develop.

PAM FOWLER

HITTING / FIELDING / PITCHING

Pam was an All-Star pitcher and short-stop for the University of Iowa.

She is our longest tenured trainer with over 15 years of working with softball players at NBA.

Her dedication makes her a forever member of our training staff.

RYAN BULL

HITTING / FIELDING / SPEED

Ryan was a four-year starter at Notre Dame playing both outfield and first base. During his tenure, he garnered All-conference and All-academic honors and led the Irish to their first NCAA tournament appearance in nine years, earning himself a spot on the All-regional team. Ryan has been giving hitting and fielding lessons to young players looking to develop their fundamentals and take their skills to the next level.
